To ensure stable operation and longevity of the engine, one of the prerequisites is to choose the right lubricant. So, what should be kept in mind when choosing to buy to get the best lubricant for your car?

1. THE CRITERIA TO PAY ATTENTION TO WHEN CHOOSING TO BUY LUBRICANTS FOR CARS:

When choosing to buy car oil, there are two basic criteria that you need to pay attention to:

*SAE: on oil bottles, you will see symbols such as SAE 10W-30, 15W-40 and 20W-50, SAE 0W-40... In, the digit before the "W" character is used refers to the range of temperatures over which the oil can help the engine start, but at negative temperatures. With the temperate climate, Vietnamese customers do not need to pay attention to this parameter.

The number after the "W" character is what you need to pay attention to. Accordingly, the larger this number, the thicker the oil, and the smaller the number, the thinner the oil. So if the car often goes on a road trip, you should choose a solid type because when operating for a long distance, the machine will be hot, and the thick oil will be diluted at this time. Do not choose thin oil because it will cause the phenomenon of "screaming".

In case the car is only used frequently in the city, it is recommended to choose a thin oil so that the car can be restarted easily when stopping and shutting down many times before the red light.

*API: is the standard used to classify the quality of gasoline engine oil and diesel engine oil. The quality levels of API for gasoline engines are SA, SB, SC, SE, SF, SG,... to the latest level, API SN. The API for Diesel engines is denoted CA, CB, CC, CD... In which, the last letter is used to distinguish grades and is arranged alphabetically, the later letter represents the higher grade. For example, API grade SN is higher than SM, SM is higher than SL...

To meet the requirements of today's vehicles, car owners should choose quality grades as high as possible such as API SL; SM, or SN for gasoline engines and API CH-4 or CI-4 for diesel engines.
